Young Debs, Junior Debs & Gents

This program is modeled after the traditional Beau and Debutante program but with a twist. Our ladies and gentlemen are assigned a mentor, who is responsible for volunteering her time to support and guide her mentee. But, all mentors are available to assist any student in our program. So, whether you need homework help, need help deciding on a new high school or college, are feeling discouraged, or need a little motivation we are here to help.

This program typically runs from September/October until August. Debs and Gents also participate in community service activities and attend various social events that have included such things as seeing Broadway shows at the Hippodrome Theatre, volunteering for the Maryland Team in Training for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the Baltimore Marathon, caroling at local nursing homes, and attending festivals (e.g. Maryland Renaissance Festivals), amusement parks, and sporting events. Debs  and Gents also participate in etiquette classes that reinforce things such as table manners, conflict resolution, and respect for others and property. Time management, study habits, interview skills and how to handle difficult situations are also discussed in our etiquette classes. We also have fundraisers throughout the year to provide resources and scholarships for our students.

Debs and Gents may also participate in our Performing Arts Outreach (PAO) program where they will learn the elements of musical theatre, including dance, vocals, acting and stage design. Our past performances have included The Nutcracker, The Lion King and This Wiz.

Ultimately, our goal is to promote cultural competency, self-confidence, and reinforce discipline and respect. Annual dues for the Debs and Gents program is $450. This fee covers all events, transportation and the end of the year ball. We do our best to work with our parents, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or need assistance. We have a limited number of sponsorships, but we try our best to provide resources for all committed students. We will follow our students from 3rd through 12th grade if they choose to participate each year. We have even followed some students into their first year of college. Our students are our priority!
